Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 16th October 2026
Cucinotta & Co Advisory Pty Ltd ("Cucinotta & Co", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and our professional obligations as Chartered Accountants and registered tax agents.
What information we collect
We only collect information we need to provide our services. Depending on how we work with you, this may include:
• your name, address, email address, phone number and date of birth
• your tax file number (TFN) and Australian Business Number (ABN)
• financial information, such as income, expenses, assets, liabilities, bank and investment details
• business, trust, company and self-managed super fund records
• identification documents, where we need to verify your identity
• details of your family or business associates, where relevant to the work we do for you
• any other information you choose to share with us
If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to provide our services, or provide them in full.
How we collect it
We usually collect information directly from you: in person, by phone or email, through documents you provide, or through the enquiry form on our website.
With your authority, we may also collect information from third parties, such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), your bank, your previous accountant, your financial adviser or your fund's administrator.
Why we collect it
We collect and use your personal information to:
• provide accounting, taxation, advisory, audit, restructuring and SMSF services
• prepare and lodge returns, statements and other documents on your behalf
• communicate with you and respond to your enquiries
• verify your identity and meet our legal and professional obligations
• manage our business, including billing and record-keeping
We won't use your information for any other purpose unless you agree, or the law allows or requires it.
We verify the identity of all new clients, and review existing clients from time to time, as required by law, including anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing laws.
Tax file numbers
We collect and use tax file numbers only for purposes permitted by tax, superannuation and personal assistance laws, such as preparing and lodging your tax returns. We handle TFNs in line with the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015, store them securely and never use them to identify you for any other purpose.
Who we share your information with
We only share your personal information when it's needed to provide our services, when you've agreed, or when the law requires it. This may include:
• government bodies such as the ATO, ASIC and the Tax Practitioners Board
• your other advisers, such as your solicitor, financial adviser or bank, with your consent
• independent auditors, for example for your self-managed super fund's annual audit
• trusted service providers who help us run our practice, such as accounting software, document storage and IT providers
• our professional body or insurers, where required for quality reviews or claims
We require our service providers to keep your information confidential and use it only for the services they provide to us. We do not sell your personal information.
Our website
When you use the enquiry form on our website, we collect the details you enter (such as your name, email, phone number and message) so we can respond to you.
Our website is hosted by Wix, which may use cookies and similar technology to keep the site working and to collect general information about how visitors use it, such as pages visited and the type of device used. Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, changes or disclosure. This includes secure storage of paper files, password-protected systems and access limited to staff who need it.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.
How long we keep it
We keep your records for as long as we need them to provide our services and meet our legal obligations, generally for at least seven years after our work for you ends. After that, we securely destroy or de-identify them.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it if it's inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below. We'll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access; if so, we'll explain why.
Marketing
We don't currently send marketing emails. If we do in future, we'll only send them where the law allows, and you'll be able to opt out at any time.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We'll respond within 30 days.
